Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - Bill Payment Services.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

33 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the discussions she or her Department, has had with the ESB regarding the introduction of the bill payment services; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10492/02]

Following an extensive competitive tender process the ESB awarded contracts for the provision of bill payment facilities to two additional service providers, PayPoint and An Post's post office network. During that process, the ESB kept my Department and I informed of progress. Operational issues relating to the introduction of the bill payment services are a matter for the board and management of ESB and the service providers.
