Vol. 553 No. 2

Written Answers. - Arts Funding.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

444 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation his proposals to support professional dancers and choreographers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13466/02]

State support for the arts is channelled through the Arts Council which is autonomous in the allocation of its resources. The Arts Plan 2002-2006 prepared by the Arts Council and recently endorsed by the Government identifies the promotion of dance as a vibrant and enjoyable art form as one of its priorities.
