Vol. 553 No. 2

Written Answers. - Citizenship Applications.

Seán Haughey

Question:

624 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when an application for post nuptial citizenship by a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 will be finalised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13789/02]

A declaration of acceptance of Irish citizenship as post nuptial citizenship was lodged in my Department on 7 January 2002 by the person to whom the Deputy refers. That declaration was examined recently by my officials and was found to have been lodged in accordance with the statutory provisions set out in the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Acts. The person concerned has been informed of this in writing and has been requested to pay the statutory fee. A certificate confirming that the person concerned is an Irish citizen from the date of lodgement of the declaration will issue as soon as possible after receipt of the fee.
