Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

642 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will approve the new agreed housing points system of Dublin City Council. [13511/02]

Mary Upton

Question:

651 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position on his Department's consideration of a new system for allocating points by Dublin City Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13875/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 642 and 651 together.

A meeting has been held between officials of my Department and of Dublin City Council to discuss proposed changes in the council's housing points system. Subsequent to the meeting the local authority were asked to give further consideration to the provisions in the revised scheme relating to housing applicants who refuse offers of accommodation. A decision will be made on the matter when the response of the local authority is received.
