Motor Insurance Advisory BoardOn the basis of a decision by the previous Government, the then Minister for State at my Department with responsibility in the area of insurance, Deputy Noel Treacy, informed the house on 24 April 2002 that the Motor Insurance Advisory Board, MIAB, had agreed to his proposal for a six month extension of its remit.
Enterprise IrelandMs Elaine Farrell, Executive Secretary, Irish Farmers Association was appointed as director of the board of Enterprise Ireland with effect from 8 May 2002 replacing Mr. David Diger, chief executive, Greencore Group plc., who retired from the board.
Shannon Free Airport Development CompanyMr. Liam McElligott was re-appointed as director and chairman of the board and Ms Noreen Foran was re-appointed as a director.
Dr. Edward Walsh, former President of the University of Limerick, retired from the board by rotation. Dr. Roger G. H. Downer, the President of the University of Limerick, has been appointed to replace Dr. Walsh.
Employment Appeals Tribunal
The post of chairman of the Employment Appeals Tribunal became vacant when Ms Mary Faherty was appointed a Circuit Court judge. Ms Kate O'Mahony who was a vice-chair man became chairman, and Ms Margaret Levey, B.L. then filled the vice-chairman vacancy.
The three ordinary members who were appointed to the employers' panel replaced three members who died during the year.
National Standards Authority of IrelandThere is a requirement that three board members retire each year on the anniversary of the establishment day of NSAI. Therefore three vacancies arose on 14 April this year. Another vacancy occurred due to the resignation of a board member.
Nítrigin Éireann Teoranta
There is a requirement within NET that one third of the board retire by rotation each year at the AGM. I reappointed Mr. T. N. Welch as Chairman and Director of NET on 5 June 2002.
Trade Mark Agents Registration BoardMr. Tim Cleary, head of trade marks division, Patents Office was appointed a member of the Trade Mark Agents Registration Board.
