Vol. 553 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Dan Neville

Question:

174 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a payment for herd depopulation will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [13482/02]

A substantial interim valuation differential payment was made to the person concerned in mid-February 2002 pending the finalisation of the arbitration panel arrangements. The working arrangements for the arbitration panel are finalised and it is expected that the panel will commence hearing such cases from mid-July 2002. The case of the person concerned is listed for hearing at that time and the chairman of the arbitration panel will shortly be in written contact with him and the others awaiting arbitration.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

175 Ms Keaveney asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the position in relation to an area aid application for 2001 by a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13483/02]

The person named applied for area aid in 2001 in respect of a land parcel which was also claimed by another herd owner. He also included two land parcels which overlapped with land claimed by another herd owner.

The person named was written to in the matter and has confirmed that he was not in fact entitled to claim area aid in respect of the land parcel claimed by another applicant. The other two land parcels on which overlaps had arisen, have now been resolved in favour of the other herd owners. These determinations are now being entered on the Department's database and the area aid application of the person named will be processed as soon as possible.
