Vol. 553 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Pat Carey

Question:

200 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will review the decision by his Department in relation to the allocation of a resource teacher for a school (details supplied) in Dublin 11. [14295/02]

My Department allocates resource posts to second level schools to cater for the needs of special needs pupils. Applications for such support are made to my Department by the relevant school authorities. Each case is considered on its merits and determined on the advice of the psychological service. To date, my Department has not received an application from the school authority for a resource teaching post. If such an application is received, it will be referred to the psychological service for a report and, as soon as the report has been received and considered, my Department will notify the school authority of the decision.
