Vol. 553 No. 5

Written Answers. - Cancer Treatment Services.

John Deasy

Question:

303 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received the report from the expert group on the development of radiotherapy services; the details of the recommendations; if not, the deadline which was agreed for completion of same; and when he expects to receive the report. [14569/02]

The work of the expert group on the development of radiotherapy services is at an advanced stage. The provision of additional services for radiotherapy treatment will be considered in the context of the report of the expert group. I have been advised that all health boards have been afforded the opportunity to meet the group. Because of the importance and the complexity of the work, it is not possible to give an exact date for the report of the expert group but it is anticipated that its work will be completed in the near future.
