Vol. 553 No. 5

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

John McGuinness

Question:

363 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department is considering a proposal submitted by Kilkenny County Council to upgrade the treatment plant at Purcellstown, Kilkenny; the total cost of this project; if his Department will approve 100% funding; and if his Department will expedite a decision on this project. [14303/02]

Upgrading of the Kilkenny Waste Water Treatment Plant at Purcellsinch is included in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2002-04, as a scheme to commence construction in 2004 at an estimated cost of €5.6 million. The submission of a preliminary report by Kilkenny County Council is awaited by my Department. The level of funding for the scheme will be determined in due course by reference to my Department's pricing policy for water services which requires the recovery of relevant costs from the non-domestic sector.
