Vol. 553 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ansbacher Report.

Phil Hogan

Question:

141 Mr. Hogan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the details of persons, companies, or their agents who made representations to her in respect of the compilation or publication of the report into Ansbacher deposits; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14548/02]

I have had very little correspondence relating to the preparation of the report prepared by the High Court inspectors appointed to examine the affairs of Ansbacher (Cayman) Limited. It would not be appropriate to provide details about persons who wrote to me in this regard. All such material was passed by my Department to the inspectors for their attention.

In regard to the publication of the report, I arranged to be represented in the High Court in order to set out my views as to why it is in the public interest that the report be published in full at the earliest possible date. I am pleased that the court has ordered that it be published in full.
