Vol. 553 No. 5

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

147 Mr. Stagg asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason it takes three months to process a redundancy payment claim in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; if the redundancy payment will be dealt with expeditiously; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14648/02]

The sponsor organisation, which is the employer in this case, sought funds from FÁS to enable it to make a statutory redundancy payment and ex gratia payment to the person. The letter from the employer was incorrectly delivered to the redundancy payments section of my Department, who have forwarded the correspondence to FÁS, to enable it to provide funding for the severance package. I am assured by FÁS that the matter will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
