Vol. 553 No. 6

Written Answers. - Driving Licences.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

233 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Transport the reason that, in 2002, in view of modern technology, holders of driving licences cannot get reminders of when their licence is due for renewal as was the case over the years before the system went computerised; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that failure to do this is not only leaving people without licences but also his Department is losing revenue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14850/02]

It is the intention that the issue of renewal notices for driving licences will commence later this year. There will be no loss of revenue arising pending the introduction of these arrangements.
