Gay Mitchell

Question:

237 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the criminal laws passed by the Oireachtas from 1960 to date. [14848/02]

I refer the Deputy to the volumes of the Irish statutes for the years up to and including the year 2000. Criminal law legislation including legislation incorporating criminal law measures sponsored by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform and enacted since the year 2000 is as follows:

– Sex Offenders Act, 2001

– Children Act, 2001

– Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2001

– Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001

– Extradition (European Union Conventions) Act, 2001.

In addition the Twenty-first Amendment of the Constitution Act, 2002 prevents the reintroduction of the death penalty under any circumstances.

The Deputy may also wish to visit the websites of the Office of the Attorney General (www.irlgov.ie/ag) and the Houses of the Oireachtas (www.irlgov.ie/oireachtas) which together provide information on all legislation enacted from 1922 to date.
