Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Gerard Murphy

Question:

1561 Mr. Murphy asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason for the delay in sanctioning the Cluid housing project in Newmarket and Charleville, County Cork. [16752/02]

Cork County Council recently advised that both projects, as submitted to the Department, could not be approved for funding due to concerns about design and layout aspects of the projects. Design aspects which are of particular concern to my Department include site layout, access and boundaries. In addition, unit costs for the Newmarket project are some 30% in excess of unit cost ceilings for social housing in the area.
