Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

257 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive extensification for 2001. [15730/02]

The person named participated in 2001 extensification premium under the simplified system undertaking to keep the stocking density of his holding to less than 1.60 livestock units per hectare for each and every day of 2001.

Under EU regulations, at pre-payment stage the Department is obliged to carry out stocking density cross checks against the Department's cattle movement and monitoring system, CMMS. In this case the Department carried out two stocking density cross checks against CMMS, one at 1 June 2001 and another at 15 October 2001. Respective stocking densities of 1.6719 and 1.7574 livestock units per hectare were found. CMMS based herd profiles will be issued shortly to the person named. The profiles will list, by livestock unit category, the tag number and date of birth of each bovine animal found to have been present in the herd on the two dates checked.

The person named was paid his full entitlements under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme, the 2001 ewe premium scheme and the 2001 area based compensatory allowance scheme.

Question:

260 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive an extensification payment for 2001. [15733/02]

Based on a certificate of posting submitted to the Department recently, it would appear that on 9 February 2001 the person named submitted an EXPR.1 form to the Department confirming her wish to participate in 2001 extensification premium under the simplified system. However, the form was not received in the Department at that time.

In view of the evidence of posting to hand, arrangements are already in train to have her application for 2001 extensification premium processed. The question of whether she is eligible for payment can only be determined when the application itself is fully processed. The person named was paid her full entitlements under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme, the 2001 slaughter premium scheme, the 2001 ewe premium scheme and the 2001 area based compensatory allowance scheme.
