Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Savings Incentive Scheme.

Paul McGrath

Question:

432 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Finance in relation to funds invested in the special savings incentive scheme, the estimated amount of these funds which were transferred from existing savings funds into the scheme. [16755/02]

The total amount invested in the SSIA scheme from 1 May 2001 to 30 April 2002 was €796 million. The total amount invested on a monthly basis since 1 May 2002 is as follows: May 2002, €178.6 million; June 2002, €175.1 million; July 2002, €178.3 million; and August 2002, €176.2 million. I have no estimate of the proportion of the funds invested in the SSIA scheme which were transferred from existing savings funds into the scheme.
