Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Willie Penrose

Question:

694 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if a school bus route will be redirected, to accommodate a number of children who are going to school in Mullingar, as set out in correspondence to his office on 30 August 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16915/02]

The position generally is that a primary school transport service may be established, where there are at least seven eligible pupils offering for transport to the nearest school from a distinct locality. In order to be eligible for transport, pupils must reside two miles or more from the nearest national school.

If the Deputy provides details of the names and addresses of the pupils offering for transport and the school to which transport is sought, my Department will have the case investigated, as a matter of urgency.

Questions Nos. 695, 696 and 697 answered with Question No 687.
