124 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the Government's view of the recommendations made in the report of the forum on broadcasting; if it is intended to implement the report and especially the recommendation that the licence fee should be index linked; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I received the report of the forum on broadcasting in mid-August. I then placed a notice in the national media seeking comments from interested parties by the end of September. I am considering the recommendations of the forum in conjunction with the submissions I have received. Later this year I will outline how I intend to proceed in relation to the forum's recommendations.
On the specific issue of the possible indexation of the television licence fee, I will await the outcome of the consultation process before commenting on this.
