Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Offences Against the State Acts.

Finian McGrath

Question:

1333 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on whether it is time to dismantle the Special Criminal Court and abolish the Offences Against the State (Amendment) Act, 1998, as a further step in the evolving peace process. [15556/02]

As the Deputy will be aware, the committee reviewing the Offences against the State Acts issued its full report on the Offences against the State Acts in July of this year. An interim report on the Special Criminal Court was issued in August 2001. I am still considering the contents of these reports.
