Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Bernard Allen

Question:

1440 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will amend eligibility criteria regarding income for the affordable housing and shared ownership schemes to take into account wage rises since the criteria were last set; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17631/02]

Emmet Stagg

Question:

1600 Mr Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government his plans to increase the income limits for shared ownership loans in the near future. [17445/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 1440 and 1600 together.

The income limit for eligibility for the shared ownership scheme was revised and increased marginally to €32,000 for a single income household, with a pro rata increase for a dual income household, with effect from 1 January, 2002. While there are no plans at present for a further revision of maximum income limits, the terms of the scheme will be kept under review.
