Question:

191 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the local authorities which have not made a waste management plan; the local authorities whose waste management plans have been deemed to be invalid under section 4 of the Waste Management (Amendment) Act, 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17558/02]

Under the Waste Management (Prescribed Date) Regulations, 2001, relevant local authorities were required to make a waste management plan under section 22 of the Waste Management Act, 1996, not later than 14 September 2001. All local authorities made such plans by that date.

The following local authorities made a waste management plan pursuant to the validating provisions of section 22(10)(c) of the 1996 Act, as inserted by section 4 of the Waste Management (Amendment) Act, 2001: Clare, Fingal, Galway, Kerry, Laois, Leitrim, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Monaghan, Offaly, Sligo, Roscommon, Waterford, Westmeath and Wexford county councils; and Cork, Galway and Limerick city councils.
