204 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the amount of money paid out by the Exchequer in first time buyers' grants for 1999, 2000, 2001 and to date in 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17575/02]

The amounts paid by my Department in respect of the first time buyers grants in 1999, 2000 and 2001 were €34.76 million, €38.14 million and €38.82 million respectively. The amount paid to the end of September 2002 was €28.91million.
