Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

324 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will investigate with the Eastern Regional Health Authority the reason a person (details supplied) has only been offered an appointment in January 2003 when they were first diagnosed with prostrate trouble and referred to the hospital over 14 months ago; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this appointment has already been postponed to a later date in January; if he will ensure that at the very least this appointment will not be rescheduled again; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18326/02]

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services for residents of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
