Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Public Transport.

Mary Upton

Question:

362 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Transport the progress which has been made regarding the provision of real-time passenger information for public transport, in particular, Dublin Bus. [18291/02]

A committee chaired by my Department and supported by the Dublin Transportation Office was established earlier this year to develop a real time passenger information system for Dublin which would provide passenger information in respect of all transport operators on an integrated basis. This committee is to report on an appropriate strategy and implementation plan shortly. Dublin Bus is represented on this committee as well as Iarnród Éireann, Bus Éireann, the Railway Procurement Agency and the representative organisations of the Private Association of Motor Bus Owners, PAMBO, and the Federation of Transport Operators, FOTO.
