Vol. 555 No. 3

Written Answers. - Autism Services.

James Breen

Question:

199 Mr. J. Breen asked the Minister for Health and Children when services will be available for children suffering from autism in the Clare area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18448/02]

Additional funding amounting to €2.68 million in 2001 and €1.878 million in 2002 was allocated by my Department to the Mid-Western Health Board for the development of a range of services to persons with autism and those with an intellectual disability.

Responsibility for the provision of services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Clare region rests with the Mid-Western Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
