Vol. 555 No. 3

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

John McGuinness

Question:

201 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny investigated with a view to providing this person with proper full-time care in their home or a hospital. [18450/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health services in the Kilkenny area rests with the South-Eastern Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.

John McGuinness

Question:

202 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the person who is representing a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny on his Department's consultative committee; if his Department will pay the cost to have this person's son tested for heavy metals in America; and his views on the issues raised. [18451/02]

I assume the Deputy is referring to the regional intellectual disability consultative and development committees in each health board region which identify priorities for service development and co-ordinate the provision of services, including additional services as resources become available. These committees are representative of the health board, voluntary service providers and families of persons with an intellectual disability and autism.

Responsibility for the provision of services to persons with autism in the Kilkenny area rests with the South-Eastern Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matters, including details of the membership of the regional committees, raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
