Vol. 555 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rail Services.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

146 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Transport the plans he has to upgrade the Waterford rail line and service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18334/02]

Iarnród Éireann informs me that under the rail safety programme work on the upgrading of the Dublin – Waterford line is on schedule and the final nine miles of track is programmed for completion in the current year. At that stage, the whole line will have been renewed with EU and Exchequer grant assistance. The levels of service and the rolling stock allocated to individual lines is an operational matter for Iarnród Éireann.
