Vol. 555 No. 5

Written Answers. - Infection Control.

Seán Crowe

Question:

296 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps he has taken to combat the outbreak of the winter vomiting bug in a number of hospitals; and the way in which this is affecting the hospitals concerned, particularly in regard to proposed operations. [19144/02]

As infection control in hospitals is an operational matter in the first instance for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and local health boards, my Department has asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the chief executive officers of the health boards to reply to the Deputy directly on this matter.
