154 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of farmers now in REP scheme 1 and 2 compared to the number that were in the REP scheme at the end of 1999. [18943/02]

When the first REP scheme closed to new applicants at the end of 1999 there were some 44,500 active participants in the scheme. At present, 13,153 remain in the original scheme and just over 24,500 applications have been received under REPS 2.
