256 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the key performance indicators being used by his Department; the performance in respect of these for the past five years; and if a commentary is published on these performance indicators linking them to objectives and activities. My Department has set out its mission, goals and performance indicators in its three statements of strategy – 1995-2000; 1998-2000; 2001-2004. It has also achieved its performance targets under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness as confirmed recently by the Civil Service quality assurance group, an independent body. In accordance with the Public Service Management Act, 1997 my Department publishes an annual progress report on the strategies and commentaries on my Department's performance indicators are contained therein.
I have arranged to forward copies of the relevant documents to the Deputy.
