595 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Transport the key performance indicators being used by his Department; the performance in respect of these for the past five years; and if a commentary is published on these performance indicators linking them to objectives and activities. [20316/02]
In accordance with the Public Service Management Act, 1997, the new Department of Transport is currently preparing a strategy statement in respect of 2003 to 2005. This strategy will include performance indicators linked to objectives.
Strategy statements, containing key performance indicators, were prepared and published by the Department of Public Enterprise, in 1997, 1998 and 2001, in accordance with the requirements of the Public Service Management Act, 1997. The annual reports which Departments issue each year provide progress reports on the implementation of the strategy statement annually. Copies of these documents are available in the Library.
