Question:

205 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children the position with regard to the extension to Kenmare District Hospital in Kenmare, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22066/02]

Responsibility for the provision of services in County Kerry rests with the Southern Health Board. The board planned the development of a 14 bed extension to Kenmare Community Hospital as part of its proposals under the national development plan. My Department has been informed by the board that this project is scheduled to commence during the latter part of the plan. The board is currently preparing a draft accommodation brief for the project which is hoped to be submitted to my Department in 2003.

206 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the proposed new community hospital for Dingle, County Kerry; if a site has been acquired for same; if the necessary funding has been provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22067/02]

Responsibility for the provision of services in County Kerry rests with the Southern Health Board. The board planned the development of a new 72 bed community hospital in Dingle as part of its proposals under the National Development Plan 2001-2006.

The board has advised that the legal agreement for the transfer of the site is currently being completed following receipt of planning permission for the project from Kerry County Council. Stage 3 of the project, which involves finalising the scheme design and cost plan, is currently being examined by my Department.
