Vol. 557 No. 6

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

102 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Finance when he proposes to announce a new decentralisation of State and Department offices; and the preparatory work which has been done on this matter. [23054/02]

The programme for Government commits the Government to the progressive decentralisation of State offices and agencies, taking account of the national spatial strategy. In view of the wide and varied range of issues which need to be considered in the preparation of a new programme, I cannot, at this time, say when the Government will be able to take decisions in relation to a new programme. My Department is continuing to give consideration to the many and varied issues which will, in due course, inform the Government's decision.
