Vol. 557 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

James Breen

Question:

49 Mr. J. Breen asked the Minister for Health and Children when Ennis General Hospital will be upgraded; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22824/02]

The development of facilities at Ennis General Hospital is a matter for the Mid-Western Health Board in the first instance. The preparation of an outline development control plan, DCP, is the first step to be taken in the process of upgrading this hospital. The brief for this part of the work is almost finalised. The DCP, when complete, will assist the board in identifying the scope of the first phase of developments on the Ennis General Hospital site. Following receipt of the DCP, the board will be in a position to decide on a timescale in the context of its overall priorities and the resources available at that time.
