Vol. 558 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Seán Ryan

Question:

296 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science his plans to provide a second level school in Donabate in view of the shortage of second level places to accommodate the children leaving first level schools in Donabate, County Dublin. [23805/02]

The need for educational provision at post-primary level in Donabate is at present under active consideration in my Department. Account is being taken of all relevant factors, including enrolment and demographic trends, housing developments and existing school provision serving the area. In addition, my officials are in regular contact with the planning department of Fingal County Council regarding developments in north County Dublin, including Donabate. The intention is to ensure that any requirement for a post-primary school in the area is addressed in a timely manner.
