Vol. 558 No. 1

Written Answers. - Mental Handicap Services.

Seán Power

Question:

336 Mr. S. Power asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kildare who is mentally handicapped, is being treated in the psychiatric unit of Naas General Hospital; the alternative treatment available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23332/02]

The provision of services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Kildare area rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly as a matter of urgency.
