Vol. 558 No. 2

Written Answers. - Mental Health Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

185 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 96 of 28 February 2002, if he will insist that the SEHB provides a comprehensive reply immediately and explain the reason a reply has not issued to date; his views on whether the lack of response to date is not a further indication for the need to insist that every health board should reply to questions within a certain timeframe; his plans to take some action in the case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23949/02]

I am disappointed to learn that the South Eastern Health Board did not reply to the Deputy. My Department has again written to the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board requesting him to reply directly, and without delay, to the Deputy on the issues raised in this case. I have also requested the chief executive officer to explain to the Deputy the reason for the lack of response to date.
