Vol. 558 No. 2

Written Answers. - Asylum Applications.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

213 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the status of a person (details supplied) currently in emergency accommodation; if this person has or will receive an identification card; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24038/02]

Under the Refugee Act, 1996, the Office of the Refugee Applications Commissioner, which is a statutory independent office, has responsibility for considering applications for asylum. The person concerned should contact the commissioner's office. It will provide any necessary advice in relation to the matter mentioned by the Deputy.
