Vol. 558 No. 2

Written Answers. - Crime Prevention.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

59 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the steps he is taking to prevent terrorist organisations continuing to raise money from illegal activities. [21510/02]

I am advised by the Garda authorities that they are proactive in the use of operational resources and legislation enacted by the Oireachtas in combating illegal activities. This includes the services of the Criminal Assets Bureau where appropriate in dealing with the proceeds of crime. I should also mention that the terrorism Bill, which I hope to introduce in the near future, will contain further measures in relation to terrorist finances.
