Vol. 558 No. 2

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices dealing with several different topics under Standing Order 31. I propose to deal with these topics separately and I will call on the Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office.

I seek leave to move the Adjournment of the House under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of national importance: the role of former Minister of State, Deputy Fahey in granting planning permission to the Corrib gas consortium. I have in my possession a document—

It is not appropriate for the Deputy to go beyond the notice submitted to my office.

—which demands immediate attention and debate in this House.

The matter is not in order under Standing Order 31. In regard to the second topic, I received notice from Deputy Cuffe and call on him to state the matter.

I seek leave to move the Adjournment of the House under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of national importance: the 18% increase in serious crime.

The matter is not in order under Standing Order 31. In regard to the third topic, I received notice from Deputy Boyle and call on him to state the matter.

I seek leave to move the Adjournment of the House under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of national importance: the statement of the country's largest insurance company that Irish homes and businesses will become uninsurable unless the Government takes action on flooding and flood relief in the wake of a second series of flooding in the Cork area, particularly in Togher and Carrigaline, resulting in the continuing closure of primary schools.

The matter is not in order under Standing Order 31.
