Vol. 558 No. 2

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

125 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Finance if he will provide a report on the flooding relief project in the Feale-Cashen Estuary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23956/02]

As the Deputy is aware the report on the flooding problem in the Feale-Cashen Estuary recommended pumping as the most effective solution. It is necessary to test this approach by carrying out a trial in one part of the catchment. Pumps and monitoring equipment have been installed in the selected area. The effectiveness of the pumps will be monitored during the coming year.
