Trevor Sargent

Question:

199 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has satisfied himself that Article 26 of the Planning and Development Regulations, 2001, which requires that the planning list for each weekly period should be published within the third working day of each following week, is being adhered to by all local authorities; and the measures he has in place to monitor implementation of these regulations. Question:

200 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the way in which he can be certain that local authorities are carrying out inspections of site notices required under Article 19 of the Planning and Development Regulations, 2001, in spite of the reduced time available under these regulations; and the measures he has in place to monitor implementation of these regulations. [24106/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 199 and 200 together.

My Department is actively monitoring the overall implementation of the new planning and development regulations through visits to local authorities and discussions with the relevant sub-committee of the City and County Manager Association, with whom regular meetings are held.

Compliance with the requirements of the regulations, for example in relation to publishing weekly lists of planning applications or site inspections, is properly the responsibility of the local authority concerned.
