Written Answers. - Education (Welfare) Act, 2000.

Olwyn Enright

Question:

251 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science when he intends to provide information and guidance on the Education (Welfare) Act, 2000, to schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24494/02]

The National Educational Welfare Board is an independent statutory body established under the Education (Welfare) Act, 2000, to implement the provisions of the Act.

The Act contains a number of provisions on guidance and assistance to be provided by the board to schools. At present the board is recruiting its head office staff, including a number of senior management posts. The board, advised by its staff, will prepare appropriate material as soon as possible.
