Vol. 558 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Bernard Allen

Question:

359 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will identify by location, acreage and other details, the State properties in his Department which are being considered for sale or are available for sale at present. [24338/02]

I would like to inform the Deputy that the Office of Public Works is responsible for procuring and disposing of State property. However, as I recently explained to the House, it is my intention that Shanganagh Castle, which operates an open detention centre for juveniles, should be sold and the proceeds re-invested in the Prisons Service. The centre is located in Shankill, County Dublin, and stands on grounds of 24 acres.
