Vol. 558 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Spatial Strategy.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

431 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the extent to which he has studied the recently announced spatial strategy and its impact on his Department's work; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24781/02]

The national spatial strategy, published last week, will have implications for the work of all Departments and State agencies, both national and local. In my statement welcoming its publication, I said the strategy sets down clear markers for the way ahead in rural development. The strategy addresses many of my concerns in relation to such issues as rural housing and services and cultural identity.
