Vol. 558 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Enterprise Development.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

63 Mr. Broughan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason for the cut of 13% in the allocation for county enterprise development; the way in which it is expected that county enterprise boards will be able to maintain existing levels of services; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24856/02]

The Estimate for county enterprise development in 2003 was reached in the context of a review of Government finances. With regard to the city and county enterprise boards, I am satisfied that, while it will be necessary for the boards to base their plans and priorities for the year on a reduced overall allocation, they will be able to continue to provide a comprehensive range of services in supporting micro-enterprises at a local level.
