Vol. 559 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Correspondence.

John Cregan

Question:

347 Mr. Cregan asked the Minister for Health and Children his Department's policy in dealing with anonymous letters; and if there is a policy for dealing with same within the health board system. [25944/02]

My Department does not have a specific policy for dealing with anonymous letters, however as a general rule, correspondence of this nature is read and depending on the seriousness of the issue outlined, follow up inquiries may be made. Anonymous letters are filed on a short-term basis and destroyed in due course. The policy for dealing with anonymous letters at health board level is a matter for individual health board management and my Department has no function in this regard.
