188 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the allocation which is being provided to local authorities in 2003 for the construction of accommodation for homeless persons to comply with the commitment made that funding would be increased from ?25.4 million to ?50.8 million over the period 2001-5. A commitment was made in the context of the integrated strategy on homelessness to increase multi-annual funding to local authorities for the provision of accommodation for homeless persons from €25.4 million to €50.8 million for the period 2001-5. This commitment will be honoured. I anticipate that my Department will meet all capital funding requirements for local authority homeless projects from within this provision in 2003.
