Vol. 559 No. 5

Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

James Breen

Question:

109 Mr. J. Breen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if a Christmas bonus will be paid to employees who have lost their jobs in the community employment schemes. [26642/02]

The Christmas bonus payment is paid by FÁS to participants of the community employment programme. Persons who remain unemployed following their participation on the programme may retain an entitlement to this bonus payment by virtue of their attachment to the live register. In addition, persons on exiting community employment schemes in receipt of an eligible welfare payment, such as the one parent family payment, disability allowance, invalidity pension, widows and widowers' pensions, and other disadvantaged persons in receipt of such payments, may have an entitlement to a Christmas bonus payment in respect of the allowance in question. Eligibility and payment of the Christmas bonus in these cir cumstances is a matter for the Minister for Social and Family Affairs.
