Vol. 559 No. 6

Written Answers. - Rehabilitation Services.

Olivia Mitchell

Question:

173 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 14 who is suffering appalling brain injury as a result of vicious street violence is denied access to vital rehabilitation services in the National Rehabilitation Centre; and if this person will be transferred there with all possible speed in order to aid at least partial recovery. [26890/02]

The provision of medical rehabilitation services to people with acquired brain injury is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Eastern Regional Health Authority with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.

Question No. 174 answered with Question No. 165.
